Players attending the upcoming World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, Nevada need to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination to be eligible to compete. The process is not difficult but for some players, knowing what to do beforehand is key.
The WSOP begins on September 30 and players can use the CLEAR mobile app to prepare a proof of vaccination ahead of time. Download the app on your Android or iOS device and then follow the instructions below to get started.
How to Use CLEAR
Once the app is downloaded, you must verify your identity. This is an easy process, even for the technically challenged. First, you input your email and telephone number. A verification code is sent to your mobile to continue the process from here.
Next, you need to take a picture of your ID, on the front and back. The app then needs a picture of your face. Both need to match. Once the app ensures that your ID and you are one and the same, then a green checkmark appears.
Then, you need to add proof of vaccination. To be fully vaccinated, you must be attending the WSOP at least 14 days from your second dose of Moderna or Pfizer or your one shot of Johnson & Johnson. To prove your status, a picture of your vaccination card is required.
You will need to add details of where you were vaccinated and when. Once this step is finished, you are good to go. The enrollment process takes up to 10 minutes to complete.
Registering for the WSOP
When you are ready to register for an event, visit the registration office of the WSOP inside the convention center located at the Rio. You will need your photo ID, and buy-in, along with the CLEAR app info.
Open the application at the registration table and click on the + sign on the home page. This pulls up your Health Pass and shows a bar code. The bar code is what the WSOP employee will need to scan to approve your registration.
Once you complete this step, you will not have to verify your vaccination status again. This makes it easy for players to show their status and enjoy the full WSOP experience.
